De Oude Huize Yard

At De Oude Huize Yard, we offer accommodation with a difference. Our furniture is historical, each piece with its own story to tell, yet we still offer modern amenities to bring the 150 year old house up to speed – a little. If you enjoy a stay with us in Harrismith, you will take comfort in our rooms warmed up by crackling fire-places; oregon pine floors; cast iron baths with soaps and pampers; towelling gowns to wrap yourself in; books to captivate you and a chess set to keep you company. Some of our rooms have en suite bathrooms with separate baths and/or showers. Each room has its own private entrance that lead to your temporary home away from home. For bird watchers, the stoep of the Great Escape family room has Morris chairs awaiting your arrival for your very own winged theatre show.

Overlooking Platberg Mountain, you can enjoy a breath taking view while savouring a delicious dinner from our popular restaurant. Our meals are prepared with home-grown produce and we support local farmers for only the freshest produce.

Also for your enjoyment, we have a library for you to find your next good read and an art gallery for you to marvel at. We also have a live-in artist specialising in beautiful wrought iron pieces. And each summer we grow and cut colourful flowers to make your stay here just that much more joyful.
